Kangwon Kim: April 13, 2025
Dr. Kangwon Lee Kim, violin, is
Assistant Artistic Director and Concertmaster of Madison Bach Musicians, and
plays repertoire ranging from Renaissance to 21st century using both baroque
and modern violins. She served as Assistant Professor at Biola
University and has also taught at Ripon College and Lawrence University. As a
baroque violinist, Ms. Kim has performed with the Smithsonian Chamber Players,
Oberlin BPI Faculty Ensemble, Brandywine Baroque, Calisto, and Baroque Band.

Love in
Music is pleased to introduce Dr. Kangwon Lee Kim as
our new Music Director, commencing her role on May 1, 2021.
With a
Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the esteemed University of
Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Kangwon Kim also boasts academic
achievements from renowned institutions such as Oberlin College, the Manhattan
School of Music, and Temple University.
Presently
holding the position of Concertmaster at Madison Bach Musicians, Dr. Kim is
highly regarded as a baroque violinist and has delivered captivating
performances with esteemed ensembles like the Smithsonian Chamber Players,
Wisconsin Baroque Ensemble, Brandywine Baroque, Classical Symphony, Calisto in
San Francisco, and Baroque Band in Chicago. Her exceptional musical prowess has
also led to faculty recitals at the prestigious Baroque Performance Institute
at Oberlin and invitations to deliver guest lectures and recitals at esteemed
institutions such as Pomona College, University of Nebraska, SUNY Potsdam, and
the University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to her
appointment at Love in Music, Dr. Kim held esteemed positions as Assistant
Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Biola
University in CA, along with teaching roles at Ripon College, University of
Pennsylvania, and Lawrence University Conservatory. Additionally, she actively
contributes to the musical community by teaching at the Credo Summer Chamber Music
Festival at Oberlin College and serves as Co-director of the MBM Chamber Music
Workshop.
Dr. Kim's
involvement with Love in Music began with a memorable meeting with our
dedicated volunteers on June 6, 2021. We eagerly look forward to the enriching musical
journey under her guidance and leadership.
